The morning will start off at 7:30 with registration, submission of photos for the contest and the 2013 calendar and setting up of chapter displays. You'll be able to mingle and catch up with friends. The Annual Meeting starts at 8:30. The business meeting will go till noon, where we will have an hour and a half to vote for your favorite photo, bid on silent auction items, check out the chapter displays and grab lunch. After lunch we'll have Park Ranger Don West will talk about what's been going on at Heyburn State Park. Then Vanessa G. Edwards will demonstrate the Transporter Series Custom Pack Equipment she has designed. When we get back from lunch Dr. Misty Parker, DMV will have a Power Point presentation on Equine Chiropractic and during dinner Tori Chase will give a riveting speech about Secretariat.
We have lined up several vendors for this convention. Julie Bentley's Embroidery with be there to take your BCHI logo gear and other orders. Hickman Saddlery will have a variety of leather goods, Hannah Kubick with her Western Bling Jewelry and many others will be there. CONVENTION SPECIAL: H & H Knife Sharpening, out of Spokane, will sharpen your horse clipper blades, including Oster, for $10 a set. You can drop them off before the meeting and pick them up by 6:00.
Once again there will be a Photo Contest at the Convention. The categories are “Working the Trails” “On the Trail or in Camp” “Wintertime with your Horses and Mules” “Nature” (scenery, etc.). Ribbons will be given to 3rd, 2nd, and 1st in each category, with 1st place winners also receiving Decorative Cast Iron Western Hooks. One photo will be chosen by the judge as "Best of Show", with convention attendees voting till 6:00 for the "People's Choice". These winners will receive a copy of Horse Camping by George Hatley. Chapter Display Contest
Once again, we will have the chapter Display Contest. Please bring your display and have it set up by 9:00am, March 24th. We will have a non-BCH'er judge the displays. There will be cash prizes of $100 for 3rd place, $150 for 2nd place and $250 for 1st place along with the Traveling Trophy.
Honoring members for their contributions to Back Country Horsemen who have passed on.
There will be items on display in the meeting room that you can place a bid on during the course of the day. Bidding will close on these items at 6:00 and you can pick them up after dinner.
The Hospitality Room will be open periodically throughout the late afternoon and evening. Come for drinks, snacks and conversation.
A sit down dinner will be served at 6:30 and there are two meals to choose from when you register:
Stuffed Chicken Florentine: Lightly floured then seared, this ender airline chicken breast is stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, onions and spicy Italian sausage, finished in the oven and topped with a creamed spinach and parmesan cheese sauce. Served with wild rice pilaf, seasonal fresh vegetables and Chef's choice dessert.
Oven Roasted Pork Prime Rib: Juicy pork prime rib slow roasted to a tender perfection topped with a unique sauce made from cranberries, red onion and cider. Served with rosemary roasted redskin potatoes, seasonal fresh vegetables and Chef's choice dessert.
At 7:30 we'll announce the winners of the Photo Contest and the Chapter Displays
We'll end the evening with a Live Auction. This will be very lively and entertaining, as PBCH member Stan Smith "Talks" you into bidding on items donated by the vendors and other members of our chapter.
